The Land van Leeghwater is the exceptionally beautiful area on the northwest side of the National Landscape Low Holland and is located directly to the east of the city of Alkmaar. In this traditional Dutch landscape are the famous windmills and polders from the Golden Age.

Tourist Office De Rijp (VVV)
Information on the Land of Leeghwater is available in our shop: VVV guide books, museum leaflets, brochures of amusement parks and zoos, walking, cycling and boating maps, lists of accommodation addresses. A limited range of souvenirs and postcards are also on sale. Tourist Office De Rijp is situated in the weighing house (1630) in the centre of De Rijp.

De Rijp is an easy around 48-minute trip from Amsterdam. (With effect from 22-07-2018:) Busline 305 travels to the village twice an hour. Look out for the bus on the river side of Amsterdam Central Station. From the busstop Wollandje in De Rijp you walk towards the parking lot and cross the small bridge at the end to reach the center of the village.
